What Constitutes a Good Marketing Program?

Posted by bmcgovern on July 25th, 2008

You have lots of duties as an affiliate marketer. From learning all you need to know about your affiliate product, to training your downline, to article writing, article submission and article distribution. There are many things to keep in mind. A focused marketing program that targets a specific market consistently is one function that you must carry out if you plan to succeed in the wild world of internet marketing. With so many products vying for consumers’ attention, you must ensure your marketing program is a good one.

The best marketing programs don’t try to be all things to all people. What they do is be one thing to a certain group of people. With this approach, a marketing program fine-tunes and delivers a highly-specialized message to people who are hungry for the message they are delivering.

Why does this work? It works because a specialized marketing campaign speaks a special message to a special group who has great interest in the product. If your affiliate product is snowboards, you’re want to market them to younger outdoor sports, even extreme sports, enthusiasts. It doesn’t mean that a spunky senior with lots of time and energy on his or her hands won’t buy one. It means you should not direct your marketing program to a broad spectrum of consumers who may generate only a small percentage of your sales.

You want the greatest return for your marketing budget. That means marketing your affiliate product to the group that brings in the most sales. You’ll still get peripheral sales as a matter of course. A poor marketing program uses a wide net approach and goes after all kinds of fish in the hopes of landing the marlins they’re really after. They could be trawling for a long time before reaping any kind of reward.

A good marketing program answers questions they already know a niche market is asking. Every aspect of the marketing program focuses on the concerns that a specific niche has and offers solutions to them. All advertising, banner advertising, website content, article writing, online forum discussions and the like focus on supplying relevant, timely information to a specific market segment.

That snowboard niche market wants web articles on the trendiest locales to spray up some snow. They want to see advertising that shows them why your snowboard material and design performs better than others. They want to see what’s new in snowboards for the coming season and what you have to offer. A good marketing program knows its niche and supplies them what they want. A poor marketing program hopes it knows its niche and involves itself in unfocused article marketing, advertising and website content that talks to no one in specific.

A good marketer knows where marketing efforts should go. A poor marketer thinks efforts should go everywhere.

A good marketing campaign engages in article distribution to a select group of niche publishers that concentrate their content on a group of consumers totally interested in their product. A poor marketing program engages in article distribution that sends their snowboard articles to a publisher of political topics.

A good marketing program advertises in online or offline snowboard magazines, on snowboard organization websites and forums. A poor marketing program advertises in general interest publications and general forums where they garner a very small percentage of interest.

In a nutshell, a good marketing program zeros in on a target and doesn’t stray from its path until it reaches it. A poor marketing program takes scenic tours to unknown areas because it doesn’t know its intended destination in the first place. As they say, if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there. You may have fun with a poor marketing program, and you may be laughing, but it won’t be all the way to the bank.

Three Key Elements To a Good Marketing Program

Posted by bmcgovern on July 25th, 2008

A good marketing campaign consists of three elements. Alternatively, a poor marketing campaign lacks these three elements and are usually doomed to failure or at the very least a lackluster performance. The three key elements to a good marketing program, whether article marketing or anything else, are a targeted market, a consistent effort and a relevant, timely message. That’s it concisely. Of course, there are the little addendums that are unique to each specific program. However, all successful marketing campaigns share these three fundamental elements.

A good marketing campaign will have a specific audience it is aiming at. A poor marketing campaign will aim at everyone hoping to connect with someone. With a targeted market, an affiliate marketer will focus on the unique needs of a particular consumer group. If the product he or she sells is a health and wellness weight-control product then the target group may be baby boomers looking to embrace healthier eating and exercise habits. With this niche market as the focus of the internet marketer’s efforts, all elements of the program are geared to this demographic so a cohesive and finely tuned message is brought to them.

Any article writing, article promotion, and article distribution will focus on this target market. An affiliate marketer will not target his or her article marketing or any other marketing they do to young twenty-something’s who are living an active extreme sports lifestyle. They are probably not too concerned with slowing metabolisms and middle-age paunches. A good marketing campaign that wants to gain customers from the baby boom generation will market to them accordingly “speaking their language.” A poor marketing program will try to convey the same “language” aka message to the entire consumer marketplace. It’s a waste of time, money and effort. This type of marketing will garner little return on investment.

Good marketing programs have consistency as their hallmark. Poor ones have sporadic bursts of activity, which do not amount to a sustained effort that keeps affiliate names in front of their intended audience. Consistency is important because a target market needs repetitive messages brought to it to gain its attention. This doesn’t mean repetitive, boring messages, though. It means repeatedly being in the niche market’s face, creatively, so they pay attention.

Think of that famous hamburger chain that consistently rolls out unique advertising and promotions. You know their name, their products and their famous spokes-clown because they made a concerted and repetitive effort to make sure you do. They did not toss a marketing campaign out there once every six months hoping that would be enough. As an affiliate marketer you have to live the “marketer” part of your moniker on a consistent basis. Your article marketing and other programs will succeed if you do. A poor marketing program will do whatever, whenever, and may never see results that bring in cash flow.

Finally, a good marketing campaign will have a relevant and timely message. The message that an internet marketer dishes out to a niche market must answer questions they need answered. It must present to them up-to-date information on a topic they are interested in concerning your affiliate product.

Take that health and wellness product you may be marketing. You want to have the latest studies about the product in your marketing message. All your article writing and web content must have the latest information available about your product as part of its content. Your target market does not want rehashing of old studies. They don’t want the same old words about the same old features that they see everywhere else. They want to know what’s new about a product.

Your article topics need to bring them the latest developments concerning your product and new features and benefits. Your marketing campaign, if it’s a good one, will pique their interest as to something new about a product. If there’s nothing new, at least arouse their interest by showing them a unique use or benefit of the product that’s new to them.

It’s all about keeping your marketing program and the content of your marketing program fresh and intriguing for the consumer who absorbs your message. A poor marketing program is not relevant and is yesterday’s news. Yesterday’s news ends up in the garbage bin; where stagnant affiliate-marketing businesses end up too.

Make your marketing program targeted, consistent, relevant and timely. Do not make it a general, inconsistent and tired marketing message that elicits yawns and inattention. There are lots of those types of marketing campaigns out there that fall by the wayside. You know who they are by the number of broken unattended links they lead to on the web. They are the abandoned affiliate marketing programs that lacked purpose. A good marketing program has a purpose as outlined above and is one that contributes to the long-term success of your affiliate business.

An Article Marketing Program That Works

Posted by tkelly on July 25th, 2008

Your eyes are tired. You have spent time writing a wonderful batch of articles and you feel your words shine. You can’t wait to get them out on the Internet to that vast audience that will click on your links and drive your internet business to new heights. There’s only one problem; you don’t know what kind of article marketing program to choose.

You know there are various ones out there; you just want to make sure you choose the right one to gain yourself maximum exposure. After all, you are involved in article writing and article promotion to drive traffic to your website. A good article marketing program will do that for you. A good article marketing program is one that gets you consistent, widespread distribution, which progressively builds more and more links back to your affiliate site. A poor article marketing program is one that provides limited distribution with a one-time effort, which does not generate increased links.

You know you are looking at a good article marketing program when you see one that has human editors. A quality article marketing program will provide you the assurance you need that your article is fit for publishers. A good article marketing program will have actual human beings look at your content to make sure it is relevant and informative for publishers. They will also look at your articles to make sure they are not blatant sales pitches sure to receive rejection from publishers. A good editor at a good article marketing company will make sure your article is formatted properly. A good article marketing program will ensure your articles are sent to relevant publishers who specialize in your topic.

A poor article marketing program will have no human editor who checks out your article for content and formatting flaws. This kind of article marketing program will also blindly send your articles to publishers that have no desire for your article topics. This blind, blanket submitting does not focus on publishers in your niche. This is a waste of your money and writing efforts. This kind of article marketing will net you little or no return for your article promotion efforts.

Another element of a good article marketing program is quantity and price. In other words, you want the ability to submit an unlimited number of articles to them for a given fee. You do not want restrictions on the number of articles you can submit within a price range. Poor article marketing programs limit your exposure by capping the number of articles you can submit in a time period. A good article marketing program tells you, “For this price you can submit unlimited articles in a period of time for one fee and we’ll distribute them where they need to go.” That’s true value for your money and this will generate the amount of links you need to build your affiliate marketing business.

Finally, a good article marketing program is one that allows you to control the distribution process. Once you are finished your articles you want them to go where they need to be when they need to be there. You don’t want all your articles submitted in one shot and that’s it until you have the time to write another fresh batch. You want your articles working for you in the days and weeks ahead while you are preparing other content.

A good article marketing program will allow you to upload your articles and then schedule the timing of their release to niche publishers. A poor article marketing program will not offer you that option. You will upload your articles with these types of services with no say as to when they will receive distribution, In effect, your article promotion efforts are now out of your hands. A good article marketing program lets you remain in control of your article marketing campaign.

Choose an article marketing program that works. There are ones out there that do not work well, as evidenced by the lack of web traffic garnered through them. You want an article marketing program that gives you the widest distribution to the right publishers. You want an article marketing program where you control the distribution schedule. You also want a program that allows you unlimited article submissions for that one fair fee. Choose a good article marketing program and watch your website traffic grow.

Make Sure Your Article Marketing Program Is a Good One

Posted by tkelly on July 25th, 2008

You’re working hard trying to promote your affiliate business. You have spent the necessary time in article writing and now want to engage in a little article promotion to get your name out there. You want to build that traffic back to your website so you can sell those affiliate products. However, you need to find a good article marketing program. What is a good article marketing program and what is a poor one?

First off, a good article-marketing program will make sure that the articles you write are ready for cyber-time prime time. A good article-marketing provider will ensure your articles meet the requirements of a host of publishers around the net. A poor article-marketing program is one that does not take the time to explore your article for any content or format no-no’s. Your busy running your business and taking time for article writing can be a challenge in itself.

That’s why it’s great to have a third-party check over your article. Their well-trained eyes can search for any flaws that will hinder your articles widespread Internet distribution. A good article-marketing program has an editorial component that makes sure your article is ready to go to publishers.

Another characteristic of a good article-marketing program is one that offers you deep and wide distribution of an unlimited amount of articles. A good program will allow you to submit as many articles as you want for one fixed price. This means you can budget precisely for article marketing and then write to your heart’s content. A poor article-marketing program will only allow you a set number of articles to submit for a certain fee. This restricts you for articles you can submit, which in turn restricts the number of click backs you will get to your website from these articles.

A good article-marketing program will also send these unlimited articles to the widest distribution list possible. They will also have a long list of categories you can choose from to target a market precisely. A poor article-marketing program will offer you fewer choices for publishers, which can hamper your article promotion campaign.

A good article-marketing program will let you distribute the articles you write over time. They do not perform just a one-time distribution. A poor article-marketing program will not offer you this feature. You want to build traffic to your website so you need regular distribution of your articles to keep your name and links out there continually.

You are wise to choose a service that allows you to upload your articles and schedule their distribution to when you want them to go out. In other words, you set the timetable, not the article-marketing provider.

In addition, a good article-marketing program will let you track the progress of your article submissions. In this way, you can stay in control of your article distribution campaign. With a tracking system at your disposal, you can track where all of your articles are and how much exposure they are garnering. You can then see at a glance which articles are giving you the highest return on the time investment it took to write them. You can track submission dates and view scheduled distributions when you have access to an article-marketing tracking system. A poor article-marketing program will not offer this benefit, or will offer one that does not provide the depth of information you require.

Finally, a good article-marketing program will make sure your article receives distribution in a careful manner that delivers many links quickly. They will also distribute your article so that it receives a regular stream of new, relevant links over time. A poor article-marketing campaign will send out your article writing efforts haphazardly, with no game plan in place to encourage consistent traffic to your website.

Choose an article-marketing program that delivers the widespread distribution you need. Choose a program that allows you unlimited submissions for one fee. Make sure you choose a program that does live human editing of your articles to make sure they pass publishers’ strict standards for articles. When you choose a good article-marketing program, you are investing in your affiliate business future wisely.

Can’t Find The Motivation You Need To Write An Article?

Posted by hebsgaard on July 25th, 2008

There are many great advantages to article writing and article marketing. The problem usually is finding the motivation to start writing. There are a lot of good reasons to publish and article and I personally use them for motivation.

First of all I actually like writing. Still, there are days where no amount of love for the craft can get me past that blank screen. Those days are tough. These are the days where I know I have to force it. I also know that as soon I get past that it gets easier.

Since I love writing it’s my dream to make a living by doing so. I’m getting there, slowly, but I’m getting there. So articles are used to earn money, how? Well there are a number of different ways, but the fact is that money can easily be a motivation. A good motivation.

One of the ways to earn money writing articles is by getting paid by someone to write it. That’s an awesome motivator. Not only do you get some additionalcash flow when the article is done, you now also have a deadline. Deadlines are one of the best motivators I know of.

Articles are also a great tool for promotion. Whether it’s self promotion or promotion of a product or a business. Being a published author does wonders for your credibility as I’ll be getting into. So getting cheap promotion is another great motivator.

One of the things you can promote through an article is a website. Now most article directories don’t like a lot of promotion in the article, but you’re allowed to have a link to your website in the author box. Not only does that allow people who read the article and click the link to visit your website. It also increases the amount of one way links to your website.

The credibility gained by publishing an article can not be underestimated. If people like what you write they will see you as an authority on the subject. Being an authority earns you trust, which may lead to purchases, site visits and so on.

Who would you rather buy a product from. Somebody you don’t know at all or somebody who is a know authority in her field? That was an easy one, wasn’t it? Becoming an authority through article writing will not only give your site more visitors it will also make buyers out of potential customers.

Maybe you’re not trying to sell anything. Maybe you just need to reinforce your position as an expert (that’s still selling though). Articles can do that too.

So you don’t want to gain anything for yourself. You just want to raise awareness about a subject. That’s great! That probably means you’re emotionally involved in the subject. Being emotionally involved is the greatest motivator there is.

If none of the above motivates you then what? Well, maybe article writing isn’t for you. However, there is one trick that can usually get me going when all else fails. Taking a walk. Yeah, that’s right! Taking a short walk usually gets my head spinning with ideas that I just have to write about.

Top Ten Reasons To Write A Top Ten List Article

Posted by hebsgaard on July 25th, 2008

One of the most popular type of articles are the top ten lists and there are many good reasons to write one. In fact I have decided to make a listwith ten good reasons to make a top ten list.

1. Everybody Loves A Top Ten List
Top ten lists are easily one of the most popular article formats on the Internet. Some other formats are how tos, tips and assessments.

2. Top Ten Lists Are Easy To write
Really easy. Pick your topic, jot down ten numbers and write down ten facts about the subject. There are even entire sites devoted to these kinds of lists.

3. Top Ten Lists Are Easy To read
They are easy to read because it’s such a strong format. It literally takes only a few seconds to get a good overview of the entire content. Another great thing is that you can take a break from reading it anytime. They are usually very short and have naturalbreak-off points.

4. You Can Write A Top Ten List In Ten Minutes
Well, you can! It’s a simple matter of doing your research on the topic, jot down ten points and jot down two or three sentences for each of them.

5. Top Ten Lists Get A Lot Of Attention
There are lots of top ten lists on the Internet and there’s a good reason. People love to read them, mail them to their friends and make posts about them in forums.

6. Top Ten Lists Give You Lots Of Traffic
Since a lot of people will be reading your top ten list the amount of traffic you get will be higher than for an ordinary article. Especially if it becomes a hit in the right web 2.0 circles.

7. Top Ten Lists Are Easy To Research
Do a Google on a the topic you want to write about and you can find ten good points in a few minutes. In fact many of the page titles you see on the first couple of pages will probably be good points to include. Just make sure you rewrite them a bit.

8. You Can Turn Your Brainstorming Session Into A Top Ten List Article In Minutes
Do you brainstorm your articles? If you do you can take the things you’ve jotted down and turn them into a top ten list. Just add a few sentences to each and you’re good to go.

9. You Can Make A Top Ten List As Long As You Want
I’ve been talking about top ten here, but there’s really no limit to the number of points you can have. You should probably avoid anything less than three though and anything over a hundred gets long really fast.

10. Top Ten Lists Are Cool
Yup, top ten lists are just plain cool. Everybody loves them and that’s unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.

That’s all for this top ten list. Next I think I’ll do a “how to” article on making “how to” articles. Seriously though, top ten list articles are extremely popular and they are easy to write so there’s really no excuse.

Article Marketing: It Is Not Rocket Science

Posted by DebAllen on July 25th, 2008

Articles can be used to promote products, services and individuals. Article marketing is probably the most reliable form of promotion available and the really great thing about it is that it can be done without spending a penny!

Sometimes I receive questions from would-be article marketers, questions that seem as though someone has been trying to plant a seed of fear in their minds. Let me say this loud and clear, article marketing is not rocket science.

This is basic communication. Everyone communicates. Even if you cannot access the keyboard on the computer, with dictation tools you can effectively write articles. Your articles can even be translated into various languages.

So to ease your mind, if you are thinking about writing articles but you are on the fence for some reason it is time to simply start. That is right. All you have to do is decide to write and begin writing.

Forget what you may have heard about some master marketer that has a secret formula to success that only he knows about because the truth is we all know how to communicate and the best articles seem to be the ones that are written in a natural tone and in a simplistic format.

I am not going to give you rigid guidelines to follow, that would totally be the opposite of my intention here. But I will offer some suggestions, please ensure the following components are included in your articles:

1) Title
2) Introduction
3) Information
4) Conclusion
5) Resource Box

When choosing a title try to come up with something that is unique and that will grab attention. It is also important to use keywords in your title.

Articles should begin with an introduction of some sort. I have read some articles that begin with a compelling story that puts the author as the lead character. This type of introduction, if well written, can pull readers into the article topic and grab their interest.

The next part of the article is the body. This is the meat or heart of the article. Your readers should find their answers somewhere in this section. Just a hint on formatting, always break up large blocks of text. Structure your article with short sentences and short paragraphs. This will make your article easier on the eyes and therefore easier to read. That may mean that it will get read more often resulting in the success you hoped for.

Use a final paragraph as a conclusion or summary. This is simply a quick wrap up of what you have told your readers in the article. Remind them of the major points.

Your resource box is very important. This is the area that you are allowed to include promotions and links to your website. I like to begin the first sentence here as if the article never ended. Always have something to offer the readers, an incentive for clicking through to your site. A free report or ebook related to the article topic usually works very well.

You will find that writing articles becomes easier the more you write. Do not be afraid to let your personality shine through. That is what makes your articles unique. Article marketing is a proven method and it will work for you as it has for thousands of other people. Give it a try, you have nothing to lose because it is free.

How To Get Past A Loss Of Words

Posted by DebAllen on July 25th, 2008

It happens to the best of them, authors and writers come to a point in their writing that the words just do not come. It seems that no matter what the article, report or book is simple at an unavoidable standstill. This is known as writers block and luckily there are ways of getting past it. Here are some of the easiest:

1) Thorough research
2) Keep it simple
3) Take a break
4) Inspire yourself
5) Walk away

I have talked to many writers that say getting started is the toughest part. To that I say preparation is key. I have found that if you have personal knowledge of a subject a quick read of a pre-written article can spur your writing skills along the proper course. You may find things that you agree with so you can expand on the ideas or you may not agree with the writer so you can write about the varying view points on the given topic.

If on the other hand you are writing an article on a topic that you are not familiar with then it is your job to do some research prior to attempting the feat. I cannot tell you how much is enough. Research until you are confident that you have enough information for your article plus more, research until you are bursting with information and cannot wait to write about it.

The more complicated you make your work the more difficult it will be to come up with the proper wording. I try to write as if I am talking with a friend. I sometimes give the advice that you should write as if you are talking with your best friend, but that may not be the absolute best advice. Consider how you talk with your best friend.

It is important that your articles are written in a professional sense, the use of proper grammar and spelling does count. But use words that the average person would understand, unless of course, your document is directed toward a professional group about a technical subject.

When you hit one of those roadblocks it is wise to take a break. I do not mean it is time to go watch a two-hour movie or go out dancing, I am simply saying that you might benefit from grabbing a cup of coffee or spending 15 minutes with a loved one or a pet. I have found a whole list of things that I can do in 15 minutes that offer a break from my writing. Often a short break is all I need.

It is amazing that more writers do not do this; you should ensure that the space that you most often write in, your creative area is inspiring. This does not mean that other people will walk in and feel inspired to write or create only that the area is inspiring to you. Decorate your little corner in a way that is pleasing to you. If you like fresh flowers you should consider adding a vase to your desk. If you love music you should ensure that music is a part of the area. Whatever it is that you enjoy, whatever it is that would make your space a creative space, that is what you should add to your writing area.

Even with all these little tips and tricks in place there may still come a time that you simply cannot find the right words. You may absolutely find that you are stumped. My suggestion is that you walk away. That is right, put that document to the side for the day or even for days and then come back to it. Getting stressed and frustrated over one article is not worth it. Move on.

Chances are that when you come back to the document you will find either the perfect words to continue or you will decide to change something else that creates a magical flow of the document. If not, leave it for yet another time.

Sometimes finding the right words seems impossible; however, in most cases the strategies outlined in this article will get you through writers block. Here is a quick recap of the basics:

1 Know your subject
2 Do not complicate things
3 Be willing to take breaks or even walk away
4 Add inspiration to your life

The Appeal Of Article Marketing: Increased Traffic, Backlinks, & Increased Sales

Posted by DebAllen on July 25th, 2008

Article marketing is a proven marketing technique that can be done without spending any money at all. That is one of the things that make it so appealing. Another appeal is that almost anyone can write well enough to utilize article marketing to some degree in order to promote a product or service.

Article marketing can generate traffic, lead to backlinks, and ultimately result in increased sales. The secret to article marketing is that there are not any real secrets. We all communicate with one another and that is what articles are about, communicating with each other through that specific format. Of course, in order to get the most from your articles special attention should be paid to the following:

1) Carefully select the title
2) Provide what Internet users are looking for
3) Create a resource box that gets results
4) Know where and how to submit

The article title can either result in instant reads or it can result in the article totally being ignored. Your article title should grab the attention of the reader but there is more to choosing a title than just that. It is important to include your keywords in the title and it helps if your title is also unique. Put all those elements together and you are sure to have one great title that leads to your article getting read.

The Internet has become the go to place to find needed information on virtually any topic under the sun. Most people have an idea of what it is that they are looking for and they want to find it fast. All you have to do is provide it and you will find success.

After writing a great article you must include a resource box that will work for you, what I mean is, you need one that will motivate the readers to click through to your site. One way of doing this is to basically let the resource box be a continuation of your article. Let the flow continue through to the content of the resource box and there you should offer a free report, ebook, or other useful information for the reader that can be found by visiting your site.

The location you send them to should include a webform that is there to collect names and email addresses. Upon completion of the form the reader will receive your free offer.
